From September 12–19, 2027, Birmingham, Alabama will proudly welcome the annual Congressional Medal of Honor Society Convention. This distinguished event brings together Medal of Honor recipients to honor their extraordinary bravery, service, and sacrifice. Throughout the week, attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on the profound legacy of our nation’s highest military honor while exploring Birmingham’s deep historical ties to its origins.

Birmingham is proud to be the birthplace of Veterans Day, a national holiday founded by Birmingham WWII veteran Raymond Weeks. His efforts led to the establishment of Veterans Day in 1954, honoring all who have served. For 80 years, Birmingham has upheld this legacy with the National Veterans Day Parade and the National Veterans Day Awards Dinner. In 2027, join us as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Veterans Day and honor our nation’s heroes in the city where it all began.
